SPAY/NEUTER INITIATIVE PROGRAM (SNIP)
The Spay/Neuter Initiative Program (SNIP) is designed to remove the financial barriers to essential pet healthcare. We don’t just offer free surgery; we provide a $100 completion stipend to qualifying families to help cover the costs of recovery and care.
QUALIFICATIONS & ELIGIBILITY
To ensure we are helping the families who need it most, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Residency: Must be a permanent Alabama resident living in Jefferson, Blount, Bibb, St. Clair, Shelby, Chilton, or Walker counties.
- Income: Combined annual household income must be $60,000 or less.
- Ownership: Must be the legal owner of the pet and at least 18 years of age.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Age: Pets must be between 8 weeks and 12 years of age.
- Weight: All pets must weigh at least 2 lbs. Dogs must not exceed 99 lbs.
- Mothers: Female pets must be at least 8 weeks post-whelping (after weaning a litter).
- Vaccinations: Proof of DAPP (Dogs) or FVRCP (Cats) is required at the time of check-in.
* Note: Participation is limited to two (2) pets per household every 12 months
