Prevention Changes Everything
A little care today prevents suffering tomorrow, and keeps families together. Here is what funding the front end does for Blount County.
What a funded front end delivers
Fewer unwanted litters. Fewer illnesses spread by preventable disease. Lower risk of preventable illness across the county. Stronger families who get to keep the pets they love. A healthier Blount County for everyone, whether or not they own a pet.
The traditional system catches animals at the end of the story, in a shelter, at roughly $400 to $1,000 per intake in taxpayer cost. Prevention runs that math the other direction: a rabies shot, a spay/neuter, a wellness visit, carried into the community before the crisis.
