Adopt, foster, volunteer, or rehome a pet. Start here.
Adoption Boost supports you for the first 90 days after you bring your pet home. The Bridge supports you in a crisis. The Pet Help Desk is here whenever you need it. We do not place pets and walk away.
We want every adoption to be the right match for both the animal and the family. Please complete this honestly. There are no wrong answers. We are looking for a good fit, not a perfect home.
No judgment. Honest answers help us match better.
These questions help us match you with the right pet and connect you with support if you need it. There are no wrong answers.
If you have contacted any of these organizations about a return, please provide a contact name and phone number for the person you spoke with. This helps us coordinate in the spirit of network cooperation, not gatekeeping.
These commitments are part of the AAF Adoption Contract. Please read each carefully and check the ones you agree to. All seven are required to complete an adoption.
Optional but encouraged. We offer a free Pet Care Provision template you can attach to your will or estate documents. It names a primary caregiver, a backup, and AAF as the contingent caregiver.
No income gating. This question is so we can offer Bridge support proactively if you ever need it.

By signing below, I confirm that all information in this application is true and complete. I agree to the seven Pre-Adoption Commitments above. I have had the opportunity to preview the AAF Adoption Contract and Lifetime Return Policy. I understand that an approved application leads to a meet and greet with the animal, signing of the full Adoption Contract, and enrollment in the 90-day Adoption Boost program.
Thank you for your interest in fostering. Our Foster-to-Train program pairs animals with temporary foster homes where they receive basic training before adoption or return to their family. All fosters are temporary. You do not keep the animal.
By signing below, I understand and agree: all foster placements are temporary and I do not gain ownership of any animal; I will follow the AAF training plan provided; I will provide a safe, clean environment with adequate food and water; I will keep the animal indoors or in a securely fenced area; I will contact AAF immediately at (205) 754-7542 if the animal becomes ill, injured, escapes, or any emergency arises; if AAF cannot be reached within 30 minutes during a life-threatening emergency, I will take the animal to the nearest emergency vet immediately; I will not transfer, rehome, or give away the animal to anyone; I will return the animal to AAF at the end of the placement or upon request; and all information in this application is true and complete.
Thank you for wanting to help. No experience is required. We train everyone. We just want to match you with something you enjoy.
Check all that interest you. We want to match you with work you enjoy.
By signing below, I understand and agree: my service is voluntary and at-will; I am not an employee and not entitled to compensation or benefits; I assume the inherent risks of working with animals; I will keep all client and organizational information confidential; I will treat all clients, families, animals, and fellow volunteers with respect and compassion; I will never shame or judge families who are struggling; I consent to a background check; I grant AAF permission to use photos from volunteer activities in communications; and all information in this application is true and complete.
We understand this is a hard decision. We do not judge. Our goal is to help you find the best possible outcome for your pet, whether that means keeping them with support or finding them a safe, vetted new home. Please fill this out as completely as you can. The more we know about your pet, the better match we can find.
Honest answers help us find the right match. No judgment.
We are here to help, not to judge. Understanding the reason helps us figure out if there is a way to keep you together, or find the best next home.
By signing below, I confirm that I am the legal owner of this pet (or have authority to rehome on behalf of the owner). I understand that AAF will screen potential adopters and coordinate a safe rehoming process. I agree to provide honest and complete information about my pet's health, behavior, and history. I understand that withholding known issues (bite history, medical conditions, behavior problems) puts the next family at risk and may result in a failed placement. I agree to work with AAF on timing and will not independently rehome the pet while AAF is actively working on placement.
SNIP is open to anyone. We connect you with reduced-cost spay and neuter through our partner clinics. If you are enrolled in Medicaid, SNAP/EBT, WIC, or Disability, you also receive $100 in post-surgery recovery support to help cover time off work, pain medication, and recovery supplies.
SNIP service is open to anyone regardless of income. The $100 post-surgery recovery support is available to pet owners enrolled in qualifying government assistance programs. Check any that apply. You will need to upload proof when scheduling.
By signing below, I confirm the information above is accurate to the best of my knowledge. I understand SNIP service is offered at a reduced rate through partner clinics and that final pricing depends on the clinic and my pet. I understand the $100 post-surgery recovery support is paid only after surgery completion is verified and only to pet owners with verified enrollment in qualifying government assistance programs. I agree to upload proof of enrollment if I am applying for recovery support. I agree to follow the partner clinic's pre-surgery instructions and post-operative care recommendations.
We know this is scary. The more detail you give us, the faster we can help. Your report goes into the AWRN matching system, which automatically cross-references incoming strays and found pet reports across our partner network.
By signing below, I confirm that I am the owner of this pet (or am authorized to report on the owner's behalf). I understand that AAF will enter this report into the AWRN matching system to cross-reference against found pets, stray intakes, and sightings across our partner network. I agree to notify AAF immediately if my pet is found so we can close the alert. I understand that AAF is a prevention and support organization, not a search-and-rescue service, and that this report helps coordinate information across partners who may encounter my pet.
Thank you for stepping up for this animal. Your report goes into the AWRN matching system, which automatically checks for matching lost pet reports across our network. The more detail you give us, the better chance we have of getting this pet home.
By signing below, I confirm the information above is accurate to the best of my knowledge. I understand that AAF will enter this report into the AWRN matching system to cross-reference against lost pet reports and owner registrations across our partner network. If a match is found, AAF will coordinate safe contact between me and the owner. I agree to notify AAF immediately if the owner is found or if my situation changes and I can no longer hold the animal. I understand that AAF is a prevention and support organization, not an animal shelter, and that I am voluntarily choosing to hold this animal.
