Prevention-First Animal Welfare | Central Alabama
We want every adoption to be the right match for both the animal and the family. Please complete this honestly. There are no wrong answers. We are looking for a good fit, not a perfect home.
What would you do if...
By signing below, I agree to: provide adequate food, water, shelter, and vet care for the life of the animal; keep vaccines and preventative care current; not chain or tether the pet as primary containment; have the pet spayed/neutered if not already done; contact AAF first if I can no longer keep the pet (not surrender to a shelter, abandon, sell, or give away); consent to a home visit before and/or after adoption; and confirm all information in this application is true and complete.
AAF provides 90 days of post-adoption support through the Adoption Boost program including training resources, a wellness check, and a direct line for questions.
Thank you for your interest in fostering. Our Foster-to-Train program pairs animals with temporary foster homes where they receive basic training before adoption or return to their family. All fosters are temporary. You do not keep the animal.
By signing below, I understand and agree: all foster placements are temporary and I do not gain ownership of any animal; I will follow the AAF training plan provided; I will provide a safe, clean environment with adequate food and water; I will keep the animal indoors or in a securely fenced area; I will contact AAF immediately at (205) 754-7542 if the animal becomes ill, injured, escapes, or any emergency arises; if AAF cannot be reached within 30 minutes during a life-threatening emergency, I will take the animal to the nearest emergency vet immediately; I will not transfer, rehome, or give away the animal to anyone; I will return the animal to AAF at the end of the placement or upon request; and all information in this application is true and complete.
Thank you for wanting to help. No experience is required. We train everyone. We just want to match you with something you enjoy.
Check all that interest you. We want to match you with work you enjoy.
By signing below, I understand and agree: my service is voluntary and at-will; I am not an employee and not entitled to compensation or benefits; I assume the inherent risks of working with animals; I will keep all client and organizational information confidential; I will treat all clients, families, animals, and fellow volunteers with respect and compassion; I will never shame or judge families who are struggling; I consent to a background check; I grant AAF permission to use photos from volunteer activities in communications; and all information in this application is true and complete.
We understand this is a hard decision. We do not judge. Our goal is to help you find the best possible outcome for your pet, whether that means keeping them with support or finding them a safe, vetted new home. Please fill this out as completely as you can. The more we know about your pet, the better match we can find.
Honest answers help us find the right match. No judgment.
We are here to help, not to judge. Understanding the reason helps us figure out if there is a way to keep you together, or find the best next home.
By signing below, I confirm that I am the legal owner of this pet (or have authority to rehome on behalf of the owner). I understand that AAF will screen potential adopters and coordinate a safe rehoming process. I agree to provide honest and complete information about my pet's health, behavior, and history. I understand that withholding known issues (bite history, medical conditions, behavior problems) puts the next family at risk and may result in a failed placement. I agree to work with AAF on timing and will not independently rehome the pet while AAF is actively working on placement.
